Well... I'm not an engineer either, but I took the design to an ME 
and asked him to explain to me how it worked.  He was pretty 
impressed with it and that's how he explained it.  The trailer can't 
pivot relative to the truck.  The truck can pivot relative to the 
trailer, but even at that, with forward motion, it will inherently 
return to a straight line.  It also does some other things I didn't 
see mentioned in Hensley literature as it approaches 15 degrees that 
provide stability in a curve, but I'd have to dig out my notes to 
remember what they are.
