Well, that is what we do.  Since we aren't on a timetable we always allow
many extra days  when headed to a specific destination or function.  We
usually travel the back road, almost never in rain, although we have been
caught in a few showers the last half hour of a drive if we have a specific
destination.  If rain starts while on the road, we pull off.
