Just something to lighten up a dreary day in Scottsburg, VA.

Your message to Susie was very upbeat and works for some, but not all.  My
wife has ten thumbs, absolutely no interest in abstracts, etc.  Then, she's
a wiz at social stuff, manners, dress, cooking, etc.  Well, the cooking does
take a bit of interpretation from a helpful spouse.  Some men and women just
can't do these mechanical things and are best suited to other activities.
Can't tighten a nut, but can create new molecules for .  .  .

Oh, my point is: A good book on RV repair is more important than the tools
to get the job done!  Like Livingston's "RV Repair & Maintenance Manual".
Also, the "service manual" for the Airstream is essential.  Finally, the
Airstream and VAClist will put all this into perspective.  These will allow
choice of tools and positive learning experience that will afford future
successful restoration/repairs.  Also, VAC events are a wonderful
opportunity to visit with restorers and learn how to and what the finished
project looks like.

As a male and tutored for a zillion years in mechanical things are assumed
to be my  responsibility, my thinking usually determines how to get a job
done.  My ancient Dad took a vocational direction in high school (plumbing,
electrical, carpentry, and masonry) that afforded him to be a successful
jack of all trades, and an inventor better than most!  He force fed a lot of
his knowledge into me.

If I were a newbee facing all the skills needed for restoration/maintenance
activities, I'm sure I would be overwhelmed and run to the nearest service
facility OR find a gentle person and negotiate .  .  .

If you were to talk to my spouse, she'd tell you that I'm a wonderful repair
person outside the house and for things that she doesn't understand or need?
Including no social graces, manners, etc.   As a retiree, I don't need a
boss (spouse) telling me what work to indulge in or establish a schedule for
her planned activities.  Talk about a crisis .  .  .

I wonder if there's a woman out there who knows how to change a light bulb,
fix a faucet, hang a picture, leave me alone when I have a beer/e-mail, and
do much with so little that accomplishing the impossible with nothing is
second nature! :)

Seems like Susie might just sit in a camp site frequented by snow birds and
.  .  . just have to keep in mind that there's no free lunch! :)

Anything to lighten up the day and Susie, if you are reading, a good set of
tools is important!
