Re: [A/S] Purging antifreze

Richard, my experience was just the opposite. The first winter I had an
Airstream, a new ' 71 Tradewind, I drained and blew out the lines as
described in the owner's manual. The water line that ran across the width of
the trailer from the water heater to the shower/tub froze and split. The
local Airstream dealer at the time said there was no way to repair the line
without taking out the bathroom bulkhead. After much pondering, I found a
way but it was a PITA to fix even so. Being a contortionist would have
helped. After that experience, I drain and blow out the water lines and then
I ADD antifreeze through the intake side of the water pump as Charlie Burke
described and put antifreeze in the P traps. No frozen pipes since and no
antifreeze taste in the water after flushing out the lines in the spring. I
bypass the hot water heater, BTW.
