I really didn't introduce myself earlier when, in my panic, I asked for help
a few days ago, with a towing question. We actually were able, with some
luck, to tow this '67 Safari 22' trailer 220 miles home in 6 hours without
trailer brakes on back roads back home to Augusta GA. We did get stick on
[duct tape] brake lights at Walmart that worked!

It all started 2 weeks ago when we just happen to see an airstream in
someone's yard in NC and stopped to ask them if they wanted to sell it and
...lo and behold! We couldn't pass up the chance to redo it for a price of
just $300. Actually the lady only wanted $200 but we do have a conscience
and when she said she had bought it for $300 in Feb as a favor to a guy who
needed to sell it we gave her her money back at least. She seemed pleased.

Body seems good...all appliances are there, there is and AC on
top...cabinets and cushions and bath stuff is OK. some light fixtures and
windows need to be replaced and there is one dent and the furnace is in
parts but some still have price tags on them so someone was trying to build
a new assembly. It's like a BIG puzzle. We have only really looked at one
Airstream....we need to get a manual first thing while the brakes are being
fixed. We do know that much...and make sure the tires and wheel bearings are
safe like suggested.....so much good info here so far.

After we sort out the dusty mess tomorrow I would like to make a priority
list of what we plan to do and post it here for folks to check over to see
if it sounds right. Would that be ok?

must find flashlight and dustmasks....and continuity tester.....busy weekend
ahead...much reading to do...
