[A/S] Bushwhacking - Boondocking - etc

Good Morning Old and New guard . . .

Lucy and I became "Airstream Smitten" after watching an Airstream movie
(filmed partly in Africa) at the C.J.Stoll dealership in St. Petersburg, FL
in 1968. We had just gotten married (June 1st) and were deciding what we
wanted to live in. The Airstream movie depicted a travel trailer that was
designed to be able to safely and comfortably house it's occupants in any
environment, hot or cold. The Airstreams in the movie, were towed by
everything from Land Rovers to Cadillac's. One feature demonstrated was the
"tip out" water fill to allow the user to fill the water tank using buckets
of water, pulled from the river and poured into the tank. I guess that is
why they came with water filters. The entire message of the show was about
the; quality, practicality and utilitarian values built into every
Airstream. Well, it was all true - in those days.

My question is, do any of you know of places in TN, GA, FL, NC, SC where you
can actually drive down a dirt road, following the banks of a pristine
river, set up camp and truly enjoy nature ? We have found that there is
less and less public access land in the Southeast (probably nationwide) and
it is very sad. Yes, I know all about all the bad people, trailer trash,
yuppies, red necks, et. al. that would leave beer bottles, disposable
diapers, chop up the green trees, ride noisy four wheelers (and two
wheelers), smoke pot, howl at the moon, run noisy generators all night long
and fly the wrong flags BUT......... Do any of you know of a spot that is
not paved, gated, electrified, rest roomed, regulated, and manicured where
we could see if our Airstream really can keep us safe and comfortable
anywhere we set it up ?
