The 4X2 Excursion weighs 6,650# and Ford adds 500# for the PSD (over 
the 5.4L gas) and 500# for 4WD (which is electronic shift-on-the-fly) 
for a total of 7,650# for a 4WD/PSD Excursion. 9,200 GVWR minus 
7,650# leaves only 1,550# (actually Ford says 1,510#) for passengers, 
300 lbs of fuel (44 gal), and trailer tongue weight.

Forget about the half ton of shooting supplies.

You may not WANT a pickup, but you NEED one... a BIG one.
