These are Henschen axles, right? perhaps the torsion bar (big rubber band)
is getting 'tired'... and, are the shock absorbers bottomed out? a simple
fix might be rv-style airbag 'lifts' to get back some of the original
clearance.

by the way... i was researching the history and current status of
'Champion' - the company that built my Dodge B-Van - turns out that they're
still around, making shuttle busses and suchlike... and they're a division
of Thor, Industries. So, i guess one could consider it a kind of Airstream
'step-cousin'.
