[A/S] Door won't open

I've been lurking in the background for a while picking up a lot of 
tips from the group.  Now I need some advice.  I have a '72 
Overlander that I have been using for several years.  Last night I 
went to unlock the door and cannot get it open.  The key and tumbler 
seem to work OK, the handle pulls out normally, but the door will 
not open.  It is the original lockset and until yesterday worked 
flawlessly. Can I remove the hinge pins from the left side of the 
door to gain access and hopefuuly make a repair, or is there a 
better way to get in?
