What you are feeling with big vehicles approaching you from the rear is
the "bow wake" of air that these vehicles are 'pushing' ahead of them
just like you'd see in the water being pushed aside from a propelled
boat.

If you think in terms of fluids, and yes air is a fluid, it will help
you better understand the aerodynamics involved with both our tow
vehicles and our trailers.

One reason that Airstreams tow and follow so well is that there really
is no place for air to catch and hold them.  These Airstreams really are
slippery and that is always a plus.
