[A/S] Tow Vehicle Choice

Thanks to all for their comments and advice...always
appreciated. To answer a few questions that were
raised...The only time that I tow in OD is on slight
downhill runs where I don't need the engine to help
slow the vehicle down, that way I keep my RPM's low
and hopefully save a little gas. My guess is,
however, that it really saves no gas. I tow in 3rd at
all other times. It seems that all fixes to give more
power to my 1/2 ton suburban would be expensive. It
would make more sense to check into a larger vehicle.
I think I will start looking for a 3/4 ton suburban
and see what I find. My hitch is an EAZ LIFT. I
think I have it set right. It pulls the truck down
uniformly when I hook up and the trailer is level. I
will have to fiddle with it during an August trip with
varying the links a bit. I have only one friction
sway control arm...perhaps I should add another. The
thought of paying for a Hensley does not thrill me so
I will continue to explore other options. It seems
that on this last trip that as a truck approached me
from the rear I could feel the whole trailer getting
shoved sideways and my truck being shoved with it a
second later. Definitely the tail wagging the dog. It
never really caused me to sway back and forth, it just
shoved me over a bit. Not a fun feeling. Thanks
again for the comments...I have a lot of thinking to
do.
