Re: [A/S] tow vehicle choice
Hi Hunter,
Hmmm..... I just pulled the diesel manual supplement, and my truck is rated
for 10,000 lbs with a Class IV trailer hitch. It is rated at 11,200 for a
fifth wheel ( 20,000 GCWR - 8,800 GVW assuming that the load is at maximum).
I thought that our two trucks were practically identical with the camper
packages, so don't know what to say, except that I am assuming the GVW and
GVWR to be identical for my towing purposes, and they probably are not.
I see however that for the '01 trucks, the following note on the
ford-trucks.com site:
"Between 85 and 90 percent of Super Duty F-Series customers use their truck
for towing, and they will appreciate how capable these trucks are. When
properly equipped, the maximum Class IV trailer tow weight is 10,000 lbs.
With a fifth-wheel application, the maximum increases to 14,500 lbs. All
Super Duty F-Series pickups are "trailering ready" this year with the
Trailer Package as standard equipment."
