Hi, I experienced the same problems this winter and took the unit to the 
local RV repair shop (not Airstream dealer). Seems that the pesky mud 
dobbers did a job on it as I watched in the shop as they unassembled the 
unit. They didn't have the right motor (that is the fix for the bearings, 
they are not replacable) but got it in the next day. I bought the motor for 
about $30 and put it in the unit and reassembled it and reinstalled it 
myself. Not a hard job at all.
