[A/S] Accessing Univolt In 1979 31' Soverign

I am interested in removing the stock Univolt and replacing it with 
an Inteli-Power 9100 & Charge Wizard.  The 12V fuse panel & the 
Univolt are located at the front of the trailer behind/beneath the 
fold out table (talk about awkward access).  The fuse panel is easily 
accessable but the Univolt is recessed down beneath floor level.  The 
Service Manual for the 1979 series of Soverign trailers states that 
the front lounge must be removed in order to access the Univolt or 
to "open credenza tambor door" (huh?).  Has anyone out there been 
faced with a similar situation re: Univolt replacement/removal and if 
so what did you have to do (i.e. is there an easier way).  Thanks, AJ
