Re: [A/S] Tire pressures - Weigh your trailer!

I'd like to chime in here with a reminder that it's more than a good idea to
load up your trailer, haul it down to a truck stop and weigh it. It's not
that difficult, and is much preferable to guesstimating your trailer's
weight.

I like to make a morning or afternoon of it... i first drive onto the scale
and weigh the whole rig... when i go inside to pay and get my printout, i
chat to the person behind the counter and find out if they'll let me
un-hitch so i can weigh them separately... and if they're really in a
friendly mood, they sometimes let me get the side-to-side weights on the
trailer.

This usually involves monopolizing the scale for about an hour altogether,
since i have to hitch up and unhitch, and drive on and off a couple of
times.

the first weighing costs about seven bucks.. but the subsequent ones can
often be had for a buck or two... certainly not the full price. at least
that's how they do it at the big truck stops out in Sparks...
