Dave, 

Suggest you make friends with Oasis RV in Tucson, AZ. Service Manager Jay
has a compartment style box of lock parts for your 1976. Call him first on
his 800 number (get it from http://www.airstream.com), then pack up your
lock and send it to him with enough green so he can fix it and air ship it
back to you the next day. Very simple - very economical.
