Wyomike,

We have step ladders that are tall enough to step over from the ladder on to 
the stowed awning. We use reversed carpet or blankets to protect the surface 
on unpainted units. The newer painted roofs just take reasonably clean 
shoes. As for weight on the roof, lets just say I am WAY beyond the Speedo 
league and I have never had any problems walking on roofs. Last year I was 
all over my Argosy sealing, and fixing. No problemo.
