Re: [A/S] Yet another tire question
I'm a little unclear of your question. Are you saying
that when checking and filling my tires I should be
doing it with my A/S attached?
If you have the proper tires on your tow vehicle,
filling them to maximum pressure as stated on the side
walls allows them to carry the weight as also noted on
those side walls. Now that figure times 4 will be the
maximum load that your tires on your tow vehicle will
support. Your A/S will add its tongue weight but if
you use a weight distribution hitch, that weight is
divided between the tow vehicle and the A/S. Again
the total weight of the tow vehicle plus weight added
by hooking up your trailer should not exceed the
capacity of the tires.
Unless you would compress all tire surfaces,
additional weight from the trailer should not affect
air pressure.
