Good question, good answers. Having gone both routes, let me offer this....

We had an SOB trailer for a few years, and decided that we needed more room,
and opted for a motorhome. It was great! At least for the first few years,
then the mechanical problems started cropping up. Niggling little things at
first, them some more serious. It quickly became a money pit, and we finally
decided that the benefits outweighed the disadvantages.

If it broke down on the road, as happened several times, we were faced with
the additional expense of staying in motels while it was in the shop. Not
pulling a toad, we had to rent a vehicle. And repair costs were not cheap.

Something about a motorhome seems to collect mechanical problems, even with
regular maintenance. Now we are back to a trailer, this time an Airstream,
and are much happier. About the only thing that will render it 'un-moveable'
is a flat, which is easily fixed. If there is a problem with the puller,
repairs are generally cheaper, and, if under warranty, better yet. Auto
repair shops are much more plentiful, and we can have the trailer towed to a
park and stay in it 'till the truck is fixed.

So, IMO, I'd go the travel trailer route over the motorhome anyday, having
had the experience of both. For comfort, the MH wins out, but for
convenience and expense, the trailer wins.
