You know, I never use the gas when I'm on a trip.... I am always hooked up to 
electric when I'm not driving and have no problems. If you shut the doors and 
don't open them til you get plugged back in you don't need the gas at all. My 
ice cubes stay frozen, have never had food go bad....

If you plan to boondock or drive for 20 hours at a time you will need gas 
though.  It could be something simple like the thermocoupler (sp?)

The Dometic fridge in my 1973 Arogosy MH was still working fine when I sold 
it four years ago.
