Linda,

The dry weight for a 73 Safari is 3,450 lbs with a hitch weight of 580 lbs. This does 
not include option weights such as a air conditioner (125lbs) or an awning (200lbs). 
The addition of LP, water, and "stuff" will easily bring the gross weight up to 5,000 
lbs. The short wheel base of a Ford Ranger and it's limited tow capacity would not 
make it a good choice for towing your Airstream.
