Leon,
If you noticed the pictures I posted on this list,
there are no gaps in my spare tire carrier on my
Safari.  Now to qualify, this was done at the factory
but I can't believe that A/S would build an after
market kit that would allow exposure of the insulation
to the elements.  I don't think you were too critical
regarding your installation.  

Personally the answer your dealer told you was as
unacceptable to me as it was to you.
