Jim, you asked about replacing the entire tube. Granted, that may depend on
how successful you are with cowboy engineering. BUT!

If you do decide to replace the entire tube, I suggest saving the tube,
cutting it in half lengthwise and stowing it with your sewer hose (cut to
fit the compartment).

There are occasions where it's very useful to have sewer hose supported
along its route to the ground hole. A few 6" pieces of 2x4 underneath the
half tube will help adjust the angle of descent.

You may have already done this. If so, ignore the idea,
