Re: [A/S] 2000 Ford Ranger getting ready to tow
Hi Cindy -------
<Does it need additional oil transmission cooler?>
A lot depends where you will be pulling. If hills and mountains,
I recommend a trans cooler be installed upstream of the radiator
trans cooler. That way, the trans oil will not get too cool,
since it will pass through the engine radiator on its way back to
the trans.
<Different shocks?>
Probably not, assuming that you are using a load equalizing hitch.
<which self-adjusting electronic brake controller?>
I use a Tekonsha. It works great.
<Anything else I should know?>
Consider NOT using 5th gear (overdrive) when pulling so as to be
easy and not "lug" the engine.
Good luck and enjoy your toy.
