I have made a mount for our bag phone next to the window. The phone's 
antenna swivels and I move it next to the glass, with almost all of the 
antenna being "seen" through the glass. It always works, with good signal 
strength. This mount is a sort of "holster" for the phone, and it is easy 
to remove the phone from the holster to put it in the car when we are not 
on the road in the AS. Note this is a bag phone, where the handset is on a 
coil cord several feet long. We just pick up the handset when it rings, and 
the antenna stays there at the window.

I used to use an external wired antenna atop the trailer, but realized this 
was overkill, and didn't replace that when we changed trailers.
