Jim, What turns plywood or other wood to dust is fungus that feeds on moist 
wood, not to mention insects. Wood preservatives such as what you see in 
pressure treated wood, telephone poles, or even on the Home depot shelves are 
basically poisons that keep fungus and insects from attacking the wood. What 
makes pressure treated the longest lasting is of course the fact that the 
"poison" has been injected under high pressures to reach all the fibers. The 
epoxy that has been discussed on the list is designed to soak into the rotted 
and delaminating layers of wood and make a solid structure once again. In 
these places no fungus form and insects would need to have really sharp 
teeth. As any home owner knows if you keep the water from entering a 
structure the building will last many life times. Depending on the roof you 
have you need to replace it anywhere from 15-75 years. These years are not 
maintenance free. A trailer even an Airstream needs maintenance to give it a 
long life. If it hadn't had any or proper maintenance over the years damage 
can and will happen. I really don't think that can be put in the factory's 
quality control problem file. Considering the fact that a trailer bounces, 
twists, all the while gets rain shot at it 60 mph or more. I think Airstream 
has done a good job of providing us with a great product.
