Love the imput. IMHO it was economics and a wise choice to dump it:
if it doesn't sell why build it. The economic realities of running a 
business are harsh and making mistakes expensive. I applaude a company
who finds a nitch and trys to fill it. and have a lot of respect for them if 
they are successful. I don't know the history of trailer manufacturing but i 
do know that there have been over 2,000 auto
manufactures in the United States and look who surrived (this isn't 
including the different models that were built!).
The status of the trailer building business is just a step or two up from 
being a cottage industry. Time and time again companies have had
to make cost vs quality vs sales decisions just to survive. I think its 
remarkable that Airstream can build a product like it does and has a 
following of customers like it has. What a company wouldn't give to
have what Airstream  has built.   Steve
