Harvey,
The heat strip is standard fare on the new A/S
trailers.  Mine came equipped with one.  We used it
this fall as an alternative to the furnace in the
evening hours.  The biggest issue I have with the heat
strip on our Safari is the fact that it does not
operate off the thermostat.  So it becomes a matter of
turning it off when it gets too hot and turning it on
when it gets cool.  

In some cases there may be some wisdom in this setup
since if it cycles, you could get into the habit of
using it instead of the furnace and consequently end
up with a freeze up in the underbelly area.
