I guess my question is what is the life expectancy of
various hitch components? While I'm on my fifth tow
vehicle since 1982 I have continued to use one
component of my original 1982 weight distrubution
hitch.  That component has been the adjustable ball
mount assembly that slides into the receiver.  The
ball itself has been replaced to a larger one but the
rest of that assembly is still original.  I have not
detected any cracking or other signs of abnormal wear,
but I always wonder whether there is a point where
metal fatigue sets in.

Any thoughts here?
