The shop who installed the Class IV hitch on my 2001 F-150 told me that the
factory installed Class III hitches get bent in use and come in to the shop
for repairs or replacement. I read somewhere (maybe on this list) that some
were attached with too few bolts to be really secure. It's worth checking
periodically.
