[A/S] going to buy truck need info

ok guys i need ya'll's help
i am getting ready to buy a truck and want to fit an a/s to it 

i want no larger than a 3/4 ton chevy 2500 hd model.
what type of engine and rear end would you recommend in these 
parameters.

second with the above in mind what size a/s would be the maximum safe 
size to put behind this truck. also what type of hitch coming from 
the truck and recommendations on attaching it to the truck weld bolt 
etc  plan on getting the towing package but sometimes there are 
refinements that dealers dont tell.

in other words if you had the above truck what a/s would you put 
behind it for max room and safety
