Joe,
I have a GPS antenna that is labeled Rand and McNally that works with
Street and Trips. I got it at a Office Depot in N. California (Yuba City)
for a mere $45. It works pretty well except that it will drop out
sometimes and I have to just turn the screen on my laptop on and off once
to get it to "wake" back up. My travel programs are a bit dated (1 1/2
years) and I will look around for some new ones soon.
I just wanted to know if any of the new ones had a good supply of RV
parks and perhaps elevation data for trip planning. I have a handheld GPS
receiver but it cannot tell me ahead of time on elevations. It just shows
real time that will do me no good.
I use my Airstream in probably a different way than most in that I use it
most of the time to go to jobs throughout the USA and sometimes have to
be all the way across the country in three days.
When you do that you might have to go through snow and ice to get there
and hence my request.
I know I will carry tire chains and a propane torch to cut through the
ice next time I do Flagstaff in January. I nearly got stuck several times
last time looking for gas at 11pm.
My truck at least has two tanks and I would not have a truck without that
due to experience.
