Now I do hate to be a spoiler, but!
The step used on a 1984 is not exactly the same as the one on your 73. The release 
mechanism's are different. Your coach has a pull tab on the right(front) side. The 
newer one uses a release bar across the whole step. The mounting on the coach will 
have to be modified to make the newer one work.  You may have to remove the belly pan, 
or at least open it up on both sides of the step to change it out.  Best to know this 
going in.
