my 1982 does leak some in the larger compartment. I expect to try to 
get a better seal on the door somehow. I have some rusting due to 
previous owner keeping rubber matting in the compartment which held 
the water under it. I have repainted with rustoleum rust stop and 
will try to gain a tight seal, not sure how yet.
