I have an '01 Excella and its door came open just west of the 
Petrified Forest this summer.  When we got to Flagstaff there was 
another A/Ser who had had the same thing happen. 

He said that the door panel has a tabbed shape portion immediately 
under the locking area.  This tab will force open the locking devices 
and door open on a rough road.  The tab is shoved into the area when 
jarred by rough roads.  

I peeled the tab of the panel down with a pair of pliers and sawed it 
off.  The rest of our trip through northern AZ and southern UT was 
pleasingly uneventfull - as open doors go.  We drove over some pretty 
rough roads, and that door stays shut.
