Re: [A/S] speaking of rock guards...
You are on track Norma, but the material was black ABS plastic sheet
about 1/8" thick. One side of ABS sheet has a rather pebbly texture
and looked good. That was originally published in the Blue Beret and
is in Tom Patterson's archives in a couple of places. I am still not
convinced that artfully masked and neatly rolled on the bed liner
wouldn't look good.
I don't know what new ones from AS cost. My guess is $500 - $600
installed?
The black ABS do it yourself project will cost you maybe $80.
Mask it yourself and the guy who did my bedliner will do it for me
for $100.
Any one can now buy the material over the counter at Auto Parts
stores and roll it on cost will be $30 - $50. Material comes in
black, gray, and a few truck matching colors.
I am actually in the process of stripping and recoating this coach
at the moment - one section at a time and it will be 4 or 5 more
good Texas weather weekends before I get to that point. So relax and
don't get too worked up into a frizzy just yet. I will let you know
when I get ready to do that, if I decide to do it, so you can
withdraw from the List for a few days and not have to deal with that
measure of Airstream desecration. ;)
Thanks to all who have responded. As I noted it is a subjective
thing and so everyone is absolutely right with their opinion. In all
seriousness. I love this List and your willingness to help. I have
an eclectic set of interests and subscribe to 5 other lists. All of
the others have been relegated to "being read on-line or in the
archive". I come on-line and the first thing I do is go my Airstream
filter and see what you are up to. I guess I am hooked on y'all.
Regards,
Steele
