Why couldn't you stretch some plastic tarp material tight over the front 
contours, and then paint the bedliner over that?

After they've dried, and you've trimmed the edges into shape, you could then 
attach/detach the skins whenever you wanted -- just like original ones.  You 
could even get some plastic door edging from an autobody supply shop, and 
finish off the edges.  That would look pretty neat.  :-)
