 My cousin tows a 32' 5'er with his Ford 1-ton dually; he says it has a
3.73 rear axle ratio. He normally tows in 3rd (direct) at about 55MPH
and says that it works well.

Can't imagine why you'd need dual alternators unless you were to connect
the trailer batteries to the truck with #4 welding cable and depend on
that for charging. You can't push enough current through the standard
wiring harness and connectors to matter.
