Hello all, and thanks for all the many good suggestions. To Ebert - I
can't answer your good question yet. I work in NW Houston and "Dad's
Other Lady" is stored 200 mi. away up south & west of Austin. I will try
to remove the perimeter trim (for access to the board to which the
offending blue fabric is attached) next time I am up there. Another
suggestion was that that same fabric-covered board might be held in
place with screws coming from the cabinetry holding the microwave &
storage shelving. We'll see. 
I will let you all know what I discover.
