A few years back we had rats in our basement area that we tried to get rid of 
with traps because of the dog and 3 cats. We finally had to resort to poison 
because they were chewing up everything, including the washer hoses.

Anyway, we were rid of them pretty fast and never saw or smelled any stinky 
bodies.  As I understand the way the poison works is that it makes them so 
thirsty they go outside seeking water. A nasty way to die but, unfortunately, 
they leave you no option.  On the other hand, it may be more difficult to 
find 'pet-safe' places in a trailer for the poison.

PS: I think that the rodents metabolize the poison and thus doesn't harm an 
animal that chews on their bodies = it's been long enuf that I would have to 
read the labels again.
