 I don't think that RV A/C units draw in outside air, they'd be way too
inefficient if they did so. That's not saying that there couldn't be a
leakage of air within the new unit, and it might bear checking out.

Your fridge vent "chimney" should be sealed from the inside of the
trailer, so all air and fumes go ONLY up the stack and out through the
vent. You should certainly check this carefully to be sure that it's not
obstructed in any way.

It sounds like you aren't 100% certain that the fumes are even from the
fridge. Running it on 120VAC as you mentioned would rule out any doubt.
