Sorry, the whole tank also has to be dropped to gain access to that 
valve.  NOT worth it. Everything Daisy and Joy told you about handling 
your gray wtaer and black water system is true.  Now here is how we 
recently solved our dump valve situation on our 72 31' rear bath A/S.

All You Fellow '72 Rear Bath Members,
1)  You have no tank for gray water(wash water) on a '72 (unless someone 
added it on their own)  but that's okay.  As Daisy said all you need is 
a blueboy plastic storage tank - and keep in mind that there are some 
places that it is permissable and sometimes 'encouraged' discreetly to 
drip the wash water on the ground.
2) If you look into installing a tank for the wash water you'll find you 
only have room for a 10gl capacity. The cost in doing such a small tank 
didn't seem worthwhile to us. (And no, we don't remember the price!)
3) We had a problem with the black water dump valve that we attributed 
to the use of tt - even tho we didn't throw any tissue down there except 
for poo-poo.  We had leakage coming into the main drain.
  It was going to be COSTLY to get to and fix the dump valve.  Our 
solution was to separate the wash water drain from the black water 
drain.  Carl took his idea of how to accomplish this to American Way RV 
in Boise, ID and they did a wonderful new plumbing job just a couple 
weeks ago. (We were happy to finally meet and yak with Charlie B. off 
and on between customers.  Everyone there was most friendly and helpful 
including service mgr Harry.)
   We now have a dump valve for wash water coming out of the bumper on 
the curb/passenger side and and a new black water dump valve and cap 
coming out of the bumper on the street/driver side(so now both dump 
valves are outside where we can get at them in the future). 
***Black Water Drain & Valve
The original dump valve is still there inside in an open position all 
the time now. The drain pipe was cut and capped where the wash water met 
the black water. The remainder of the balck water pipe stayed and exits 
thru drivers side with the NEW dump valve and a cap added to the 
OUTSIDE.   Yayyy, we can now get at the valve seals without its being a 
4-6 hour job!
***Wash Water Drain & Valve
  Two gray pvc elbow pipes were attached to the remaining wash water 
drain pipe to reverse the flow direction to the passenger side.  Its 
drain pipe now exits thru the bumper to the outside and has a Valterra 
dump valve installed.
  Something we added on our own afterwards was a male pvc connector that 
screws into our wash drain so that we can screw a regular garden hose on 
to the connector to more easily drain the w. water.
By the way, Carl keeps telling me not to call it the "bumper"... too 
confusing. B.S. ^g^ And of course I think the whole idea was mine 
originally...
