[A/S] Surge/Low Voltage Protection

Hi all!

Have any of you use or have entertained the idea of a
surge supressor for your A/S?  It seems that many of
the appliances now have an electronic board running
them.  An good expample would be the refrigerator
which even though it works on gas, needs some 12 volt
power to operate the control board.  These boards seem
to go for a minimum of $100 each not including labor
if necessary to diagnose the problem with the
appliance.

I have often wondered whether ponying up the $250 or
so to buy one of these supressors might be worthwhile.
 Some of the higher priced units can also monitor low
voltage and cut the power before you ruin some
equipment.  They seem to come in portable units that
look like large power strips, I guess you can tie them
to the power hookup pole in a campground, or there are
ones that wire in directly to you power panel.

Knock on wood I haven't had a situation in the last 4
years where a trailer that I owned with this
technology has had a failure, but it always is a
possiblity.
