You could be right, I looked at it today (its in the same town I live 
in) I was
looking over it with the owner and it looked like the ball was part of 
the hitch assembly and we didn't see away for it to come off. Then the 
literature mentioned
that there were two different main hitch assemblies, however I have not
researched this and could be mistaken. Thankyou.
