I would clean those cabinets very well before you make a plan for
refinishing. I thought the woodwork in my '63 Bambi was dark, but after I
cleaned it up (with a product I got from Ace Hardware) it was actually
beautiful light golden oak with 35 years of grime on it. After a good
cleaning I just put tung oil on it.
