Befote I built boats I did antique resteration and also spent 10 years 
rebuilding grand pianoes. a finish i worked out years ago for a low sheen oil 
finish is as follows Ipart gloss urathine varnish 1to1.5 parts boiled linseed 
oil2 parts turpine. several coats are needed normaly I use 400 to 600 grit 
wet or dry sand paper or 4o steel wool to apply the 1st coat the resulting 
slerry acts as a filler in the pores of the wood the finish must be wiped dry 
before the finish becomes tacky. use on cabnets works well when the finish 
becomes scruffy wash dowe with ahe finishing materal and 4o steel wool and 
the finish becomes like new.works well on all woods and we used it in teak 
work on the boats i built and worked on.
