The
only way to determine when it is full is by looking through the bottom drain
opening in the toilet with your foot firmly planted on the pedal to open the
flush valve.

Has the plumbing of your trailer been altered to plumb gray water into the
black water tank?  The factory didn't plumb them that way.

--- I think it's original 60's plumbing, where the gray water meets the black 
water right at the cap...So, if I leave the cap on, and the dump valve 
open,they gray water can fill the black water tank. At least that's my 
as-yet-untested understanding.
