Re: [A/S] I Need Your Thoughts

Jack,

I imply no criticism of your local dealer but I would not knowingly tolerate
this apparent factory flaw. Any potential damage that will occur may not
show up until the trailer is out of warranty, maybe years into the future.

If I remember the warranty on my '93, it was 100% the first year, 80% the
second, and a continually declining percentage for the remainder of 60
months. I didn't know much about Airstreams when I purchased it and did not
recognize what had happened when the end caps turned chalky when the trailer
was 1 1/2 years old. By the time I understood what was happening and took
action, I was in the 20% A/S responsibility time frame and 80% owner period.
A/S did help compensate me but I was out something like $2,000 for a strip
and recoat job.

If it were mine, I would contact the service department at Jackson Center
and tow it to them. The factory is co-located with the service department,
A/S offers a full hookup RV park, the factory tour is interesting, and there
are lots of attractions to see within 100 miles or so.
