I was called to supper earlier just as I began writing my earlier response
and didn't have time to address all your questions.

I'm not certain but am fairly sure that you will find that the black and
gray tanks are polyethylene like the water tank and like the tanks in older
A/Ss.  They are basically not repairable as nothing will permanently adhere
to the tank material.  Even waste doesn't adhere much as some may be
surprised to learn.  When I pulled the  broken 35 year old black tank out of
my '66 Safari, it had very little dried waste inside and what remained was
easy to wash out with a hose and nozzle.  If you have a broken tank, it will
most likely have to be replaced.  I think I paid approximately $135 for a
replacement fresh water tank for my '93 34' about three years ago.
Airstream had it in stock and shipped it direct to me but the order was
actually handled by Bill Thomas, the A/S dealer in MO.  Jackson Center will
not sell direct to owners, only A/S dealers.

I suppose any experienced and competent RV service center could do the job
for you but unless the shop is familiar with A/Ss, I would be a little
reluctant.  Griffith RV Service in Oklahoma City does excellent work at fair
(but not cheap) prices and I have heard that Bill Thomas does also, although
I have not been there.

Hope you don't have to replace a tank but if you do, it won't break the
bank.
