All the trailer fridges I have seen make no noise, they just
 use a heating element and convection, that is the same as when on 
gas.
 The only problems I have had was when the trailer was not level, then
 one other time when the little fuse in the back of the fridge had 
gone. If the element is working you should feel some heat in the back 
around the coils. Is the fridge 110volt and gas. Does it work ok on
gas/propane
